Annwyl Deuluoedd,

Hawliau Plant UNICEF

Mae Confensiwn y Cenhedloedd Unedig ar Hawliau’r Plentyn (UNCRC) yn rhestr o hawliau y mae gwledydd ledled y byd wedi cytuno sydd gan bob plentyn. Dros y nifer o wythnosau diwethaf, rydyn ni wedi bod yn canolbwyntio ar un yr wythnos. Yr wythnos hon, rydym yn canolbwyntio ar hawl wirioneddol bwysig sydd â'i gwreiddiau mewn cydraddoldeb, tegwch a chyfoeth diwylliant amrywiol.

Erthygl 30: "Mae gan bob plentyn yr hawl i ddysgu a defnyddio iaith, arferion a chrefydd eu teulu, p'un a yw'r rhain yn cael eu rhannu gan fwyafrif y bobl yn y wlad y mae'n byw ynddo."

Mae Erthygl 30 o UNCRC yn ei gwneud yn glir bod gan blant a phobl ifanc yr hawl i rannu eu diwylliant, eu hiaith a’u crefydd â phobl eraill yn eu grwpiau.

Oeddech chi'n gwybod bod pobl ledled y byd yn siarad mwy na 7,000 o ieithoedd? Yr ieithoedd a ddefnyddir fwyaf yw Saesneg a Mandarin. Mae pob un yn cael ei siarad gan fwy na biliwn o bobl! Mae hynny dros 1,000,000,000! Mae rhai ieithoedd a diwylliannau yn cael eu dathlu gan niferoedd bach iawn o bobl ond mae Erthygl 30 yn golygu bod yn rhaid i blant gael y cyfle i’w defnyddio a’u dathlu o hyd. Mae hyn mor bwysig i ni fel teulu angerddol yn Ysgol Panteg: mae 899,500 (29.7% o boblogaeth Cymru yn 2022) yn siarad Cymraeg. Fel rhieni, rydych wedi gwneud dewis ymwybodol i anfon eich plentyn i'n hysgol i'w helpu i dyfu mewn hyder gydag ail iaith. Mae ein plant yn byw ac anadlu'r yr erthygl hon trwy ddysgu ein hiaith annwyl.

Yn Ysgol Panteg, mae gennym ni bobl o wahanol ffydd. Mae gennym ni hefyd bobl nad ydyn nhw'n meddu ar unrhyw ffydd. Gyda phopeth a wnawn fel cymuned, mae parch, goddefgarwch a charedigrwydd yn allweddol. Mae plant yn dysgu am wahanol ffydd a diwylliannau gwahanol trwy lawer o wersi rydyn ni'n ymgymryd â nhw - nid Astudiaethau Crefyddol yn unig.

Adroddiadau Interim

Yr wythnos nesaf, fel y cyhoeddwyd yn flaenorol, byddwn yn dosbarthu adroddiadau interim ar gyfer pob plentyn. Mae’r adroddiad hwn yn ddogfen un dudalen syml sy’n dangos sut mae’ch plentyn yn gwneud yn erbyn ei dargedau ym mhob pwnc.

Rydym wedi ymrwymo i roi'r wybodaeth ddiweddaraf i chi am sut mae'ch plentyn yn dod ymlaen. Ac, fel oedd yn wir y llynedd, rydym yn darparu sawl pwynt drwy gydol y flwyddyn lle rydym yn cael y ddeialog honno. Fel arfer, mae ysgolion yn cael dau gyfarfod wyneb yn wyneb gyda rhieni ac un adroddiad. Yn Ysgol Panteg, rydym yn darparu dwbl yr hyn y mae’r canllawiau yn ei ddweud sydd ei angen arnom.

Rydych chi eisoes wedi cael ‘Cyfarfod Cynnydd a Lles Disgyblion’ yn nhymor yr Hydref. Mae un o'r rhain wedi'i drefnu bob tymor i chi.

Pan ddaw i adroddiadau, ar ddiwedd Tymor yr Hydref, byddwch yn derbyn adroddiad interim. Cyn y Pasg, byddwch yn derbyn adroddiad llawn. Yna, ar ddiwedd y flwyddyn academaidd, byddwch yn derbyn adroddiad interim arall.

Fel bob amser, mae ein drws bob amser ar agor. Gallwch e-bostio eich athro neu anfon neges ClassDojo atyn nhw er mwyn trefnu trafodaeth am unrhyw beth sy’n eich poeni.

UNICEF Children’s Rights

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) is a list of rights that countries around the world have agreed that all children have. Over the last number of weeks, we’ve been focusing on one a week. This week, we are focusing on a really important right which has its roots in equality, fairness and the richness of a diverse culture.

Article 30: "Every child has the right to learn and use the language, customs and religion of their family, regardless of whether these are shared by the majority of the people in the country where they live."

Article 30 of the UNCRC makes it clear that children and young people have the right to share their culture, language and religion with other people in their groups.

Did you know that around the world, people speak more than 7,000 languages? The most used languages are English and Mandarin. Each is spoken by more than one billion people! That is over 1,000,000,000! Some languages and cultures are celebrated by very small numbers of people but Article 30 means that children must still be given the opportunity to use and celebrate them. This is so important to us as a fired-up family at Ysgol Panteg: 899,500 (29.7% of the population of Wales in 2022) speak Welsh. As parents, you have made a conscious choice to send your child to our school to help them grow In confidence with a second language. Our children are living out this article by learning our precious Welsh language.

At Ysgol Panteg, we have people of different faiths. We also have people who profess no faith. With all that we do as a community, respect, tolerance and kindness is key. Children learn about different faiths and different cultures through many lessons we undertake - not just Religious Studies.

You have the choice at this time to either: (1) let your child return to school on the pre-booked bus, or (2) take your child home from the theatre. However, we need to know before hand - we want to eliminate any hassle or confusion from the day. Therefore, please let us know by following this link by 3:30 on Thursday at the latest.

Food Bank Donations

It was fantastic that so many families were able to give to the local foodbank this year. I want to thank you personally for your support if you were able to give. This morning, we had a special gratefulness assembly joined by Nicci Morgan (one of the people who help lead the foodbank) and Anne Gunter (a councillor at Pontypool’s Town Council).

A huge thank you for your generosity. This will help many families locally including some of our own Panteg Family.

EVERYONE

Gratefulness Assembly

We had a really meaningful assembly this morning where we thought about all the things we are grateful for. We had hundreds of things we were thankful for. We’ve decorated our halls with garland chains with words of thankfulness, memories we are thankful for, future things we are looking forward to and names of people we are thankful for. We thought about our attitude of gratitude and how that effects our outlook on life.

EVERYONE

Christmas Tree Decorations Tomorrow

Remember that tomorrow we decorate our Christmas trees. We love it when everyone brings a bauble or decoration to school so that we can all be part of the decorating. These can be handmade or shop bought. I challenged some of the older children to see if they could make any origami ones this year! We have a box of baubles and bows in case anyone forgets and to make sure no one is left out.

EVERYONE

Christmas Card Competition

The results are in! We were overwhelmed by how many entries were handed in! Everyone worked really hard! our Head Boys and Head Girls have chosen the winners! Well done everyone!

Interim Reports

Next week, as previously announced, we will be handing out interim reports for each child. This report is a simple one-page document showing how your child is doing against their targets in each subject.

We are committed to keeping you up to date with how your child is doing. And, as was the case last year, we provide multiple points throughout the year where we have that dialogue. Normally, schools have two face-to-face meetings with parents and one report. At Ysgol Panteg, we provide double what the guidelines say we need to.

You have already had a ‘Pupil Progress and Wellbeing Meeting’ in the Autumn term. There is one of these scheduled per term for you.

When it comes to reports, at the end of the Autumn Term, you will receive an interim report. Before Easter, you will receive a full report. Then, at the end of the academic year, you will receive another interim report.

As always, our door is always open. You can email your teacher or send them a ClassDojo message in order to arrange a discussion about anything that concerns you.
